Balance Changes in Path of Exile: Betrayal

The reason it doesn't really matter is because only a few cookie cutter builds that can do t16 vaal temple, uber's, and corrupt 8mod t15's, are worth building to begin with. Those won't really be affected by these changes.

Speed meta for currency will always remain, and there's no shortage of options there.

The more things change the more they stay the same.

What is the point of the Heiro totem node change?! You are adding a totem support gem that gives +2 to max totems and summon 2 totems at a time, so what? Are heiros going to need to use that for the bonus max totems it gives despite the other effect just being a clone of their new ascendancy? What was the actual point of this change? Like sure okay lower the max totems but don't give the effect of a new support gem into the ascendancy when their going to most likely need to use it anyway to make up for the loss of an additional totem anyway.

Like between that and the statstick change it's like no one at the balance team even thinks sometimes.
How does the stat stick nerf effect skills which explicitly only swing the mainhand weapon, such as consecrated path? Will you be completely prevented from using these skills in a dual wield configuration of any kind?

You're looking at things too closely, everyone is. Look at the big picture. GGG always buffs/nerfs in cycles. It'll be god tier gear again a few leagues from now. Think of it like leap-years.
Stat Sticks
The use of "stat sticks" has been a feature of Path of Exile for a very long time.

A stat stick is an off-hand weapon that is not valid to use with a skill you are using when dual wielding. You get all the benefits of the stats on the weapon, while not having any limitations it might have affecting the use of the skill. You can use a weapon that has the attack speed and/or damage you want for the skill, while the off-hand weapon provides excellent stats without its speed or base damage limiting you.

This use started off as an interesting gameplay element to use as part of a build, but over many releases, as more powerful modifiers on unique and rare weapons have been added, the power of stat sticks cannot be ignored when planning builds and is stifling other choices including genuine dual-wielding.

In 3.5.0 we are removing the ability to use stat sticks, through the following changes:
  • You will no longer be able to use skills that require a specific weapon equipped if you are dual-wielding and one of your equipped weapons is unsuitable for that skill.
  • Skills that could be used with two weapons, but were main-hand-only when used, now use both weapons when dual wielding.

Quality before quantity.
Now, dont get me wrong, i am all about bringing the most popular overpowered builds in line, but giving hierophant -1 totem, and compensating with 2 totems on summon is a giant spit in the face cosidering the base totem count is now 3... a first grader would figure out that 2+2 =/= 3

It will be clunky and annoying AF until you somehow get 4th totem... thats not a nerf, thats making you totally hate the levelling experience

Really!? This is what they came up with? Spellcasters abusing the hell out of stat sticks and they get a free pass? Melee which is still burning garbage even with stat sticks gets nuked again? Players asked for number tweaks, players asked for limits to the amount of mods, players asked for balance. This is not balance this is heresy!!!


It would be easier if you just came out and said you can not solve "The Riddle of Melee."

The only way they can fix this is with massive buffs (we are talking like 150% minimum. Plus a targeting rework)
